Visa Information
Applying for a Visitor Visa
Generally, international students will need to obtain a visitor visa to enter the United States. Students should apply for the B-2 Visitor Visa (for pleasure, tourism or medical treatment) at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Visa applications are now subject to a greater degree of review than in the past so it is important to apply for your visa as soon as possible. Further information on the visa application process, including application steps and required documentation, can be found on the
Traveling without a visa
International students from certain eligible countries may also be able to visit the U.S. without a visa through the Visa Waiver Program if they meet requirements, including having a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval. Additionally, citizens of Canada and Bermuda traveling for visitor visa purposes don’t need a visa, with some exceptions.
